As previously discussed, the sharing of one's medical experiences in a comprehensive respectful manner will result in patient/caregiver empowerment which is beneficial when making more informed health related decisions. The added knowledge gained via the PatientReaction platform we believe can help improve treatment outcomes by enabling patients to obtain a high level of care for they will now be able to determine who the best doctors are(GOATS) from other patients treatment experiences. With medical error as the third leading cause of death in the United States, I think all of us would agree that the quality of the medical care that you receive matters. What are some of the other specific benefits obtained by the sharing of one's medical experiences beyond letting other patients know who the GOATS are? Here are a few of such benefits listed below:
- 1.) When patients share their medical experiences with one another over a period of time on the PatientReaction platform, those patients are bonded by having the same condition. Patients that take an interest in one another like this feel cared about and their stress level decreases. This decrease in anxiety can only aid in the recovery process.
- 2.) Helping a fellow patient because you have been able to recover from your particular condition puts you in a unique position to help other patients based upon your positive medical experiences. This respect shown to a fellow patient, helping them during their battle with their illness, will provide you with great pride and satisfaction not obtainable in the same manner elsewhere.
- 3.) Aiding a fellow patient puts one in a good mood because you have been there before and know what it feels like to be ill. You just feel good that you did a little something to help a fellow human being for no other reason than trying to aid somebody who could use a boost.
- 4.) By engaging patients with your same exact condition you form a special connection. Since you have responded to care and have recovered fully you are able to share all your medical experiences and let them know that they too can obtain a good outcome. Your positive experience can help reduce the recovery time for a fellow patient while under treatment.
